School production rehearsal

Alice in Wonderland

Set building, costume design and dance rehearsals have been in full swing over the past couple of months and the Production is shaping up to be spectacular.

The cast has been working overtime to learn lines, songs and dances. Anja Margach and Nikita Patti have been interviewing the cast to help them design the costumes and make-up.

THANK YOU to all those generous families who gave up some time on Sunday 16 September to help build the set - from cutting down cardboard, to stencilling, painting and constructing. What a team!

The Production is a wonderful and huge team effort and is promising to be an incredible show… so secure your tickets now! Click here to book.

Classical concert

Monday 15 October, 6pm - 8pm

Camberwell Baptist Church, Hawthorn East

The 2018 Classical Concert Sublime Song  will involve students from the Kindergarten all the way to Year 11. This whole-school event highlights the joy of students, teachers and parents coming together to make music.

Sublime Song  will feature music from the 1600s to current compositions, classics from Elgar, Bloch and Debussy and will include one feature piece for the upcoming school production of Alice in Wonderland.

The concert encourages anyone to participate and enjoy music and builds a sense of pride in Preshil’s music program. We do hope you can join us.

Year 11 Art students soon to be curating their own exhibition

The Year 11 DP Art students had the opportunity to learn more about the role of Curator across different art contexts from our recent guest speakers.

Olivia Poloni and Clare Needham presented their diverse curatorial experiences, from Poloni's freelance work at the Bundoora Homestead to her international experiences working with Lisa Roet's Skywalker Gibbon, which was powered by bicycle. Needham has worked in historical spaces such as the Post Office Gallery in Bendigo and has established the Kyneton Contemporary Triennial.

The breadth of experiences discussed and the relationship between artist, curator and gallery provided a great launching pad for the Year 11s who will soon be curating their own exhibition.... details to follow.

Talented Alia

We would like to wish Alia (Year 7) the very best of luck entering the 2018 Royal Melbourne Show Art and Craft competition over the holidays. Last year Alia won first prize in both the soft toy and paper craft categories in the Junior Competition.

Old is new again: business shirts wanted!

The Art department is seeking a supply of shirts to use as smocks during painting and other messy work. If you can help, please leave your donation in the office for collection by Yvette, or arrange for them to be put in her Art classroom.
