Last reminder:

timely VTAC course applications close next Friday 27 September

This is one of the last reminders before the school holidays to make a registration for VTAC for a timely application fee of $36.

To register and pay, you only need to put in one course preference. You can then add up to eight and change these any time you wish up until after the ATARs have been released. Once you have done this you can then apply for SEAS (Special Consideration) and Scholarships. Note: You will need your VCAA student number to register. If you do not have it please contact the office to assist you.

I also recommend you take the time to look at the attached Parents and Students VTAC Presentation as the whole process is clearly explained, with some great tips - and it's a good guide to the whole process.

Important SEAS notes

These special applications are due to be finalised on Friday 12 October, however I recommend completing them as soon as possible prior to 27 September to avoid any last minute rush and late fees.

- SEAS applications become available after a course application is submitted;

- SEAS is the special consideration program used by most institutions;

- Filling out a single SEAS application will cover all of your eligible preferences;

- Primarily for students who have suffered long-term disadvantage, however it is recommended that everyone should apply for: Category 1 (Personal Information and Location);

- SEAS does not exempt you from completing essential requirements and compulsory admission criteria;

- You must still study course prerequisites, attend all interviews, sit any required tests and submit all required folios and forms;

- SEAS is not a guaranteed entry scheme or reserved quota, but may allow you to gain entry to a course with a lower ATAR than otherwise.

You can view the SEAS Guide attached here.

Interstate applications

If you are applying to study in NSW or ACT you may need to apply through the University Admissions Centre (UAC). Please visit UAC's website for an overview of the application process. The application processing charge is $70 and is not refundable.

Again, once you've applied, you can change the order of your preferences – or even the courses you’ve selected – as often as you like before the closing dates for each offer round. (Some courses have early application closing dates so check for these as well.)

The most important offer rounds (UAC) for Year 12 students are December Round 2 on Thursday 20 December 2018 and January Round 1 on Friday 11 January 2019. These rounds are when most Year 12 applicants receive their offers.

For information about the UAC Special Considerations applications (EAS) please read the following attachment.

For other states please visit their individual State Admission Centres.

Making an appointment

You can find me in The Careers Hub office upstairs in Blackhall. This term I will be available on Mondays, Tuesdays,  Wednesdays and Thursdays. Fridays are by email appointment only. Please use this link on the Preshil Careers website to make an appointment on those days because it syncs to my calendar to avoid clashes. For a Friday appointment  or any questions or concerns please email me at bronte.howell@preshil.vic.edu.au

Remember, you can also visit our dedicated Careers Website any time. The site contains a huge amount of information and should be your first stop when you are looking for information on anything related to jobs, careers, university, VTAC, TAFE or even about taking a gap year (and there is so much more). The site also has a student login area that will allow you to do a number of things including  creating  your own digital portfolio and resume which you will be able to keep and take with you after you leave school.
