Living with Strength and Kindliness

This week we celebrated Holy Week and our achievements this term with a student-led liturgy. We gathered in the Oak Center to pray the way of the cross, supported by our talented Year 7 Drama class and led by our Year 12 Leaders, we reflected on the courage and sacrifice that Jesus modelled for his disciples and for us today.

As we approach the end of the term and our thoughts turn towards the break, it is also a time to reflect on what the approaching Easter season can mean for each of us. We are surrounded by symbols and signs of the changing times and seasons as we journey through Lent into Easter and likewise into the term holidays.

In his address to the diocese Bishop Shane shared:

“Easter is a spring festival – timed to fit the Northern hemisphere, of course! It celebrates that, no matter how deep the darkness or disappointment might be that we face in any particular struggle or suffering, the final word belongs to the new life opened to us by the faithful love of Jesus that we see on the cross. Jesus remained true to his commitment to the poor and suffering, whatever it might cost him personally; and the new life of his resurrection opened the joy and hope that God longs to share with us. As we commemorate Jesus’ death and resurrection, we recall our own mission to live with the faithfulness and commitment that we see in him.”

This term, our focus has been on our theme of Courage - "Be Brave! Let the little things be stepping stones for growth.”  When we gathered together, we reflected on this as we marked our term of learning. What a privilege to listen to our students speak about their learning and how they have worked together and individually to achieve their goals.

As we move into the holidays, I pray that all members of our community will be blessed with the opportunity to connect with families and friends and celebrate the Easter Season.

Project Compassion

As we enter Holy Week, we continue to reflect on the lives of people vulnerable to extreme poverty and injustice and how we can respond through supporting Caritas Australia’s Project Compassion appeal.

Your generosity is the pebble that allows Caritas Australia to create the ripples that will improve the livelihoods of vulnerable communities, supporting them to flourish and create opportunities for future generations to live to their full potential.

Thank you!

Please return all Project Compassion boxes and envelopes to the school office by Friday 26 May or donate online via the Caritas Australia website at www.caritas.org.au/project-compassion
