Celebrating our terrific Twos!

Literacy

This term we have begun our focus on information reports. Last week we created information reports about Australia. As it is Japanese Children's Day on Friday, this week we have focused on collecting information and writing about Japan. We have found some fascinating information, including that Japan has a population of 126 million people, 100 million more people than Australia and that there are over 100 active volcanoes in Japan. We can't wait to use this information to create our information reports and share them with Junko Sensi later this week.

Numeracy

This week we have begun our unit on addition and subtraction. We started with the building blocks of addition and subtraction… our 10s facts. Students have played lots of fun games and explored all the different ways to make 10. We have discussed how knowing our 10s facts can help us to know so much more. For example, if we know 3+7=10, we also know 30+70=100, 23+7=30, 43+7=50 and so much more!

Respectful Relationships

In our Respectful Relationships and Wellbeing lessons, we have discussed fairness, taking turns and how to be a good sport. This was very timely, with our Cross Country race being this week. We were so proud of how the Grade 2s cheered each other on and demonstrated great sportsmanship. We also got to practise taking turns in maths when playing games such as 10s fact go fish, snap and memory.
