Celebrating our fabulous Foundies!

Literacy:

As children move towards take-home readers, you will find they will also bring home the corresponding sight words to match their level; Nat (1), Pat (2), etc. Different from the magic words program, these are to use as a quick revision before completing readers each night, in the hope that children can recall these with ease and spot them within the text (reader).

Maths:

In maths, we have been looking at teen numbers. We have been discussing that all the numbers in the teens have a group of 10 and they all begin with a number one to represent the group of 10. We looked at how the other number changed because of the ‘extra' ones. This is the language we carry all through our place value understanding. This lesson was great for its visual purpose, but also the teamwork and fine motor involved!

Wellbeing:

Children are learning about their brains (see craft below), as part of their Growth Mindset unit. Children learnt that if we challenge our brains with things that feel tricky (and possibly a little uncomfortable) that our brain grows. We also noticed as a group all our brains (and neurons) look different and discussed that we all learn things differently!
