Japanese

This week in Japanese:

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. It was so lovely to see our students back at school with happy smiles. We are very lucky to have started our lessons in our brand new Japanese room this term! Monash University generously let us display their beautiful wedding kimono in our room to mark the start of our new beginning! The children are all very excited to enter their Japanese room and have given us some lovely feedback.

-             “Junko Sensei, I love this room! It’s beautiful!”

-             “I love the feel of this room. It’s nice and calm!”

-             “Junko Sensei, I don’t like this room. I LOVE it!”

We are so grateful of this amazing space for our Japanese program!

Children’s Day

On May 5th, Children’s Day is celebrated in Japan to wish children good health and growth. This celebration started as Boy’s Day almost a thousand years ago, but it is now celebrated for all children. Japanese families with sons often display a carp windsock as carp fish represent bravery and strength. Samurai helmets are also displayed by many families with sons on this day. We are holding our special Japanese Day at Monty, trying a range of activities. Our students have been busy decorating their paper carp to display. There will be a Japanese Day assembly in the afternoon, so please come and join us!
