Interview with Naomi Holt

Year 4 Class Teacher

How long have you worked at

BNPS?

That’s a good question and a little complicated! I began at BNPS back in 2001. I left twice to work overseas and then have my children. I returned when my children began school at Beaumaris North in 2015.

Who inspires you?

Lots of people inspire me in lots of different ways. Staff that I work with who are always thoughtful and caring. Students in my class who have a positive attitude and are principled.

My children inspire me every day when they share their days and experiences. My mum is a big inspiration. She works hard, but family is always her priority. She is very balanced.

What is your favourite thing to do on weekends?

My favourite thing to do on the weekend is to spend time with my children Ada and Yianni. Whether it is running around to sports activities or lazy movie nights at home, it always makes me happy when we are together.

If you could go on a holiday anywhere in the World, where would you go?

I would have to choose Greece! Good food, friendly people and beautiful beaches! It feels like the world slows down just a little over there.

Are you an early bird or a night owl?

I am a bit of a night owl for sure. Once everyone is in bed that is when I get some work done with some tv in the background. I usually wind down and read just before bed.

What might someone be surprised to know about you?

Something that not everyone knows is that when I taught overseas in Doha I taught some of the Amir’s family members. The Amir is the monarch and head of state. The school I taught at was also a PYP school just like Beaui North.

What recently made you smile?

Watching all the students having fun on the new play equipment definitely makes me smile.

At home playing hide and seek with my little dog Lenny made me smile on the weekend.

If you could swap places for a day, who would you choose?

It would probably be fun to swap places with a child for a day. Watching how much fun they have in and out of school. It would be great to have a day like that.

What would you like to say to your class ?

I feel very grateful to see your happy, smiling faces in our classroom. Continue to be your very best self, being risk takers, inquirers, principled and caring. You all come each day to learn at Beaui North both in the classroom and in the playground, but I also learn a lot from you all. Thank you for putting a smile on my face each morning!
