Principal's Report

Welcome To Term 2

During the school holidays several tasks were completed including the painting of our cubby houses and the internal painting of cupboards and window frames in the Prep classrooms.

I would like to thank Jesse for painting the cubbies and Mark for the internal painting.

Year 6 Anzac Day Service

Congratulations to our Year 6 students and the staff for conducting our 2023 Anzac Day Service. Our ceremony was held in glorious sunshine at the front of our school.  The Year 6 students are to be applauded for managing this special event especially as they had not had a great deal of time to prepare due to the timing of the school holidays.

I would also like to congratulate our student body who respectfully adhered to the instructions from our Year 6 students throughout the 45 minute service.

It was wonderful seeing so many parents and grandparents attend also.

One to One Devices in Years 3, 4,5 and 6

We are extremely excited to announce that our school is now able to provide ‘one to One devices” in Years 3, 4,5 and 6.

The provision of these devices has been made possible by the support of families in relation to our IT Voluntary contribution.

If families were asked to purchase this device for their child to use at school is would cost $930 plus insurance costs for each individual student.    The support of our voluntary levy ensure that families are not required to outlay this large amount of money.

2024 School Year Planning

We are currently in the 2024 Prep Transition Planning phase.  This week has been set aside for siblings due to begin Prep in 2024, to come to school and meet myself or one of my Leadership Team.

Please call the Office if you have a child commencing Prep in 2024 if you have yet to make an appointment and the 'Lovely Office Ladies' will make one for you.

Open Mornings Next Week

Next week we are commencing our 2024 Prep Open mornings.  I do hope that you can find a few minutes to sit and enjoy the photo collage video, that Pete Stanbrook and Nicole Rainsbury have complied to showcase our wonderful school.

Term 2 Wellbeing focus

The Wellbeing focus for the term includes the “Choices Program” for several Year 5 students. This program has been made possible by Jess Patane who was successful in gaining funding for our students.

We will also be commencing the Respectful Relationships program in Year 6.  (Jess)

Child Safety

On Tuesday, we had a staff meeting to review our responsibilities as Mandatory Reporters.

Mandatory reporting - A mandatory reporter who fails to comply with reporting obligations may be committing a criminal offence.

What must schools do?

All mandatory reporters must make a report to Victoria Police or DFFH Child Protection as soon as practicable if, during the course of carrying out their professional roles and responsibilities, they form a belief on reasonable grounds that:

  • a child has suffered or is likely to suffer, significant harm as a result of physical abuse or sexual abuse.
  • the child's parents have not protected, or are unlikely to protect, the child from harm of that type.
  • It is a criminal offence not to report in these circumstances.

Our Child Safety Policy can be found on our school website and below:

CSEF Available

Every Victorian child should have access to the world of learning opportunities that exist beyond the classroom. The Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund helps ensure that no student will miss out on the opportunity to join their classmates for important, educational and fun activities.

It is part of making Victoria the Education State and the Government’s commitment to breaking thelinkbetween a student’s background and their outcomes.

Safety At BNPS

  • Safety within our school grounds

In our efforts to keep our children and families safe at BNPS, we ask that you use the footpaths as you enter our school. We have become aware that on a daily basis, parents and carers are walking their children through the staff carpark, which is very dangerous, as smaller children are not well sighted, particularly when reversing. It also sets an unsafe example for students, who then think that they can walk through the carpark also.

We appreciate and understand that parking around the school for pick ups and drop offs is very busy and challenging, however, we request you refrain from using staff car parks (Wood St / McDonald St) for your own personal use.

Unfortunately, we have had staff cars scratched and damaged as a result of parents accessing the staff carpark.   It is also a priority for us to ensure we have access and no blockages in these car parks onsite in our school, in the event, an emergency vehicle or service would need to safely enter onto our school grounds.

For the safety of all, please refrain from entering the carparks. These requirements are an important part of our official Emergency Management Plan which is lodged with DET and updated on annual basis.

Also a gentle reminder about Kiss’n’Go parking.

Parents should not leave their cars – it is a 2 minute zone only. We have many complaints about this from parents and Bayside Council has advised us that they have also received complaints and plan to monitor this situation, which will result in a substantial fine.

We are committed to keeping our families safe at school and appreciate your support with travelling around and into our school boundaries.

Kind regards,

BNPS Staff

Kind regards
