What a wonderful Learning Expo we had on Wednesday morning this week! This was a great opportunity for students to showcase and celebrate their Inquiry and RE learning from Term 1. As each class moved throughout the school, students and teachers were greeted by class representatives who welcomed and introduced their class' learning. The learning was shared with all students and teachers across the school and we appreciate the parents, guardians, families and friends who were able to join us for this special event. We also would like to thank our teachers and LSO's for all the work they have planned this term to engage students in such important learning.
Here are some highlights from our Learning Expo:
In Week 1 next term, I will be running a Parent Helper Workshop for parents who may be interested in helping in classrooms. The workshop will cover how you could support in your child's class. We will discuss things like - what it means to be a parent helper, confidentiality, strategies that you could use to support students with their Reading, Writing or Maths, as well as how you can go about getting your Working With Children Check. Parents helping in classes will commence in Week 2 next term. Please mark this date in your calendar as we would love for you to come along.
When: Wednesday 26th April at 9am
Where: Mezzanine
Even throughout the last week of the term there has been a great buzz in our school every morning as our students engage in Independent Reading or Buddy Reading. This is an opportunity to foster enjoyment towards reading, a love of books and literature, as well as developing sustained reading time as students move to the middle and senior levels. Teachers have the opportunity to touch base with each student as they sign their home reading journal and help students change their readers. Teachers also use this time to read with individual students and to complete a running record which assesses a students reading level.
If at any time you have any questions or concerns about your child's learning, I encourage you to make a time to chat with your child's class teacher, or to come and see me if you would like to chat about any aspect of learning at Trinity.
Wishing all our children and families a safe and Holy Easter and an enjoyable break over the holidays. Try and encourage your child to continue with their reading each day.
Kind Regards,
