Principal

Welcome Back to Term 2, I hope you all had a good Easter and time to be with your families.

Grade 6 Day

Today we hosted over forty Grade 6 students from various schools including St John the Baptist Primary School in Koo Wee Rup and a number of local State Primary schools. The day is provided as part of our enrolment process and is an opportunity for both students and families to gain a greater understanding of our school in order to make the best choice to start the next phase of their educational journey.

This is a different experience from previous years when we would have over 150 students in for the day from all the Primary Schools in the area. This year we are working with smaller groups – our other Catholic Primary School partners have separate days allocated – to provide a more focused program.

The day was a great success and my thanks to Claire Cassidy, Zac Cox, and Carly Kitchingman for their organisation. Thank you as well to Chris Spencer, Ken Myors, Jon Bowman, Hamish Duckmanton, Mary Tye, and the VET Sport and Recreation students for their work during the day.

Year 7 2024 Enrolments

I would like to remind all current families that enrolment applications are due on 31 May 2023. Formal applications must be made for students for enrolment into Year 7 next year. We will accept applications after that date, but as a matter of justice, priority will be given to those who have submitted their applications on time.

School Review

We are continuing our work to prepare for the School Review which take place from Monday 19 June to Wednesday 21 June.

I did write in our last few Newsletters about the process, but in case you did not have a chance to read them below are key points about the process.

The review team will comprise Educational Consultants from the Diocese of Sale Catholic Education Limited (DOSCEL). Prior to the visit, the team will review data related to the areas of Catholic Identity, Religious Education, Learning and Teaching, Student Wellbeing, and Community Engagement. Additionally, they will consider our self-assessment of the College’s performance in these areas over the last four years. During their time at the College in June, the Review Team will speak with all staff, groups of students, a parent group, and our Parish Priests. Additionally, they will undertake a number of classroom visits. These interviews in conjunction with the pre-work by the Team will provide the information to write a report on our performance using the Catholic Identity and Religious Education School Improvement Tool (CIRESIT) and the National School Improvement Tool (NSIT).

Ultimately the purpose of the review is to inform the development of the College’s Strategic Plan for the next four years, 2024 to 2027.

I will continue to update you about this project as it progresses,

ANZAC Day

Thank you to our Justice Captain, Sage Anderson, who spoke at the ANZAC Requiem at the Leongatha ANZAC day ceremony on behalf of the College. Well done as well to Teagan Denbrok who participated as part of the South Gippsland Brass Band.
