An Education Passport
An interesting article caught my eye this week. Professor Shergold, who is chairing a national review of senior secondary pathways, has a vision of an “education passport that students will take with them through their life.” Does ATAR distort final years of school?
Our mission has a similar vision of a post school passport of competence, conscience, compassion, and committed to God and the service of others.
Beyond school study guide
The ‘beyond school study guide’ helps with important decisions about future studies. This guide is full of information about HELP loans, different pathways to university and compares what study might look like in higher education and vocational education and training.
Online with UWA and Alumni (Victoria Hooke)
This week our Year 10 and 12 students have participated in an online presentation, in lieu of face-to-face, by the University of Western Australia. Alumni, Victoria Hooke, was one of the presenters and shared her experience. It gave our Year 12 students an opportunity to find out more about the university and have their questions answered.
It was a lot of information for our Year 10 students to absorb but it is was a great incentive for them to start thinking about subject choices for Year 11. I would like to thank Kelli Beaton, Luke Bostelman, Janeen Murphy and our ICT staff for their support with setting up these presentations.
Curtin University
Year 12 and Parent Virtual Information Sessions
Curtin will be hosting Year 12 and Parent Information Sessions on 24 June and 30 July. (Both sessions will cover the same content.) They will cover how to apply, new pathways, courses, support services and more.

TISC applications are now open
Year 12s can now apply early through TISC for entry to the Curtin course of their choice. Students do not need to submit their Year 11 report – they need only upload their predicted ATAR, if it’s available; if not, they can still apply through TISC without uploading any documentation.
And there’s more good news: This year Curtin will refund the TISC application fee to all students who meet the TISC fee reimbursement requirements.
Please remind students to use their personal email address for TISC applications, rather than their school email, to ensure they receive our emails after the school year ends.
New pathways: Predicted ATAR and Access Curtin
Curtin has added new entry pathways for Year 12s applying for Semester 1, 2021, including the Predicted ATAR and Access Curtin pathways.
Students who apply for an eligible Access Curtin course may receive an Access Curtin offer for peace of mind. If they go onto achieve the required ATAR the Access Curtin progression conditions will no longer apply.
Details are on the Access Curtin page.
Curtin Excellence Scholarships are now open
The Curtin Excellence Scholarships for 2021 are now open. Formal applications are not required – students apply simply by selecting an eligible Curtin course through TISC as their first preference.
Applications for the prestigious John Curtin Scholarship Program open on 2 July and close in September. Applications for all other Curtin scholarships open on 16 August. There are a range of scholarships available for students who have demonstrated academic merit and for students who are in financial need.
