ART ROOM NEWS

It’s wonderful to have all students back at school, in the Art Room for lessons. Many students have already brought in the works that they created at home during Remote Learning. The students are loving seeing what others have created and we will incorporate these works in an exhibition later in the year for everyone to see. I’ve been really impressed by the creativity and diversity of student’s work.

You might be wondering why children haven’t brought any of their Art home with them as yet. I’m holding onto it here at school as we will be having an Art Show in Term 4. They will proudly bring their work home when the exhibition is over.

During this Term I’ve taken the opportunity to re organise and renovate the Art Room. This has made it much easier for students to find what they need each week.

All Art Smocks were washed and sorted over the holidays. There are some children who don’t have an art smock. These are mainly students in the senior grades who have probably grown out of the smock they had. Could I ask that if a student doesn’t have an art smock that they please bring an old shirt or apron (with their name on) to protect their clothes?

I’m collecting EGG CARTONS for an activity planned for early next term. If you could save them for the Art Room I would really appreciate it.

I’m also collecting different sized plastic bottle tops. ie; milk, lemonade etc. If students could bring some to school next term for a printing activity that would be wonderful.

Many thanks to Sienna, Lolita and Lily in Grade 4 and Alex in Grade 5 who were a tremendous help to me during the great Art Room clean up.

Thanks also to the Grade 6 Art leaders who took some photos for today’s Newsletter.

2020 Young People of Bayside Art Exhibition

Bayside Council's Youth Services is proud to be hosting their first digital Bayside Youth Art Exhibition. This year's artwork will be showcased online rather than our front foyer to ensure it can be enjoyed in a safe environment.

The theme this year is “Wonderful World”. Young artists aged 10-25 years old with a connection to Bayside are encouraged to submit a photo of their artwork responding to the theme. Entries are open from Wednesday 10 June to Friday 10 July.

The youth art exhibition is now in its 20th year with the success of this exhibition from the continuous support of the schools. It would be greatly appreciated if you support this event through your communication channels.
