Dickins Room

We have had a fantastic week with the Marram and Wimbi children, it has been wonderful seeing more children return this week.

Our Marram class has enjoyed the changes to the program, with the lego and the threading experiences being stand out hits. We have been focusing on re-establishing the routine with large class sizes and the cleaning processes we have adopted. The children have been engaging in skills of autonomy and agency through this, becoming more responsible for the set up, pack up and design of the room. They have really enjoyed this level of input and through discussions and interactions we have had a huge interest in dinosaurs emerge. We can't wait to explore this further next week!

Our Wimbi children had a great day on Friday, we had nearly the whole class back and it was full of excitement and business. The children really enjoyed exploring the changes that we have made to the program, with a very busy kitchen area and lots of playdoh creations being made throughout the session. We are working on supporting each child in their independence and self help skills, packing their own bags, putting on their shoes and creating a greater level of awareness of their belongings is an important part of learning at this stage of three year old kinder.

We had quite an eventful week. One of our trees needed to be removed and what a buzz this created. The children were able to view a video we had taken of the actual event and then enjoy the logs and dinosaurs to invent their own adventures. This allows for the children to be open to new challenges whilst also taking considered risks as they move around their environment confidently and safely through balance in movement.

The sandpit is back with some great rivers being made, burying others whilst some took some photos. The ‘tablets’ were created from the box construction – they scanned their photos and airdropped them – fantastic examples of creative and imaginative play.

We have also been making our bird’s nests whilst looking at native birds. We have also been looking at our native Australian animals – practicing our sign language and songs to accompany these.

Shopping is still popular as is the small world play with the blocks and cars – it is lovely to look at all the symmetry in their creations.

Have a super week!
