Curriculum

Wow has time flown by! What a great week we’ve had. The Junior school enjoyed seeing our Senior buddies back onsite! We have adjusted back to the school routine, and our new handwashing schedule is becoming a regular practise. Thank you to all parents and carers supporting the entry and exit points again this week. As usual, we appreciate all your support and understanding during this ever changing time.

In Numeracy, we enjoyed exploring subtraction and practised various strategies associated with it! We used our character strengths of creativity to create subtraction number stories, and learned how to record our number problems vertically. We practised with different hands on materials such as number lines and counters, and enjoyed playing some subtraction games with our peers.

In Writing, we learned even more about poetry, focusing on new styles of poems including Diamantes, and Haiku’s. We are looking forward to learning more about Haiku’s next week, as we dive more into the topic of syllables and how to determine the number of syllables in each word.

In Wellbeing we had fun using our team work strategies to complete group games. One of the games included passing a marshmallow between the class using two pencils! Though there were many laughs and giggles while we attempted the challenge, we loved seeing our student’s displaying perseverance, and enjoyed hearing the encouragement they gave to their peers while doing so.

We also enjoyed our Cross Country during PE lessons this week. It was awesome to see some students even remembering their house colours as they challenged themselves to run around the oval as many times as they could. Thank you to Mr. Jenkins for all your hard work allowing us to still compete, and braving the cold each day to cheer us on!

Thank you again for another amazing and productive week at MPRPS! Hope you all enjoyed the weekend and we are looking forward to the last 2 weeks of school!

Kind Regards,

Emma Honan, Aidan O’Connor, Emma Marsh, Kathy Wang, Andy Parthenopoulos, Emily Kiefte, Simone Rock and Erin Bennetts.
