Principal's Message

Selamat datang  (Welcome)

Filming

Last week on Thursday our filming was completed! It was a huge day but hopefully it will be helpful for families wanting to find out more information and virtually visit our school.

Thank you to our parents Karry Sourivong, Bec Smith, Manish Sharma, and Jackie Leou for agreeing to be filmed for our parent perspectives.

We have two opportunities to make edits and I will be asking our community to help out with this.  We have made sure students that did not have consent to be filmed have not been and additional consent was sent home to those students who may feature in the filming. It is important those forms are returned otherwise of course edits will need to be made to the clips.

Uniform Policy Review

At MPRPS we have a recognisable and respected school uniform.  The aim of a whole school uniform policy and dress code is

  1. To promote equality amongst all students.
  2. To further develop a sense of pride in, and identification with our school.
  3. To provide durable clothing that is cost effective and practical for our school environment.
  4. To maintain and enhance the positive image of the school in the community.

The entire school community was involved in the development of the current school uniform. On a regular basis the policy is reviewed.

Please take the time to read over the policy

You are invited to then submit any feedback you have on the policy through this survey.

Through our previous review we added the polar fleece vest which has been very popular, giving students a level of warmth without the  weight of a long sleeve jacket.

Pleasant Snacks, Lunch Time Clubs, ICE, Recess Radio and Assembly...

Until further notice many of our extra-curricular programs will not run for the rest of Term Two. I am hoping that we get further direction from the Department of Education and can restart these programs. We are adapting as best we can. 1/2BR recorded an amazing assembly for this week for the Junior School and we will follow this model for our future Assemblies with classes hosting assembly. This week the Senior School had 'uber assembly' again and it was so nice to visit them all and award Pupil of the Week.

Headlice

Due to current circumstances we are unable to have parents in to conduct our head lice checks. This parent run program has always been very effective in controlling head lice at MPRPS. Until we are able to have the program operating again we are asking parents to be extra vigilant. I have attached information below

  • If a student is noticed (visually) to have live headlice a note will be sent home to the student's family.
  • Please note that staff do not check for headlice.
  • Students can attend school after appropriate treatment has commenced.
  • The presence of eggs in the hair is not a cause for exclusion (only live head lice).

New Residents @ MPRPS

On the weekend some new residents moved into Mount Pleasant Road PS!

I wonder who lives in our special tree?

If we are very quiet, will they come out to play?

Thank you to Tania Hosken for organising, to Keegan for building them such a lovely home (and too Ally as well, for nominating him for the job.)

Planning for Term 3

This week all students have their Specilaist Classes on the one day. Today is 3/4 Planning Day where classroom teachers plan the curriculum for Term 3. Statement of Intents - Curriculum Overviews will be available next week giving information about what will be covered in each Learning Centre.

Reports and Portfolios

Reports will be available through Sentral on Wednesday 24th June at 3.30pm. As previously mentioned due to the interrupted schooling in first semester and the difficulty for teachers to accurately conduct assessments on student progress, changes have been made to reports, to reflect the Department of Education's advice to schools.

The report includes a summary of the curriculum taught in Semester One, including a succinct summary of a student's learning achievement and a comment on their adjustment to Remote Learning. In regards to A-E reporting of achievement, there will not be progression points allocated to student achievement or the use of a scale for effort this semester.

A parent/teacher interview will be held in Term Three via video conference to allow teachers and parents to discuss students goals and progress. It is expected a full Semester Two report will be provided at the end of the year which will include A-E reporting of achievement and a grading for effort.

There are changes being made to the Junior School portfolios with the scrap books to come home this term. The Junior School will move to using Seesaw as their portfolio and a letter will come home with additional information and a consent form.
