3 Weeks till Fete Day

It’s 3 weeks until Fete day!
Now is the time to start earning some pocket money to spend on the day. Rides, craft, yummy food, games to play and animals to pet. It’s such a fun day with your school friends and it’s a good idea to bring along coins to spend on the day.
For the parents: now it the time to put your hand up for a shift on a stall. We need way more than we have to keep the day fun for all. So come one sign up for an hour or two. The fete team will be in the e yard on Friday helping people sign up.
Feel free to access the volunteers’ roster by clicking on the QR code, or by using the google doc link.

We have many slots to fill – and so appreciate your help in getting there.
Also, if you have a current RSA we would love it if you could do a shift on the bar!
Thanks everyone!
Box Maze
We need big boxes!!
Boxes big enough for a kid to crawl through. If you have big boxes, could you please bring them to the Foundation foyer from Monday. It is fine if they are flat. The box maze is a crowd favourite at the fete and alot of thought and effort goes into creating it, so the more boxes the better!

Jam Making
We need jam!
We have lots of jam jars that have been donated by families. If you would like to make some jam, and don't have any jars, come and get them from the front office.
Remember to sterilise your jars (https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/howto/guide/how-sterilise-jars) and list the ingredients. We will label the jars for the Fete, so listing on paper is fine, or email me. You are welcome to bring in your jam anytime from now.
The jam and preserves stall sells out of everything, so the more donations the better! We’re not limited to jams, it could be anything in a jar including chutneys, cordials, spice rubs, spiced nuts, salad dressings and lemon butter, etc.
If you have excess fruit from your trees, please let me know and I will put it to good use.
School Jam making sessions:
Sunday March 5 – 2.00pm – 5.00pm
The more the merrier, please let me know if you can attend, even if it’s for an hour.
Here is a recipe for inspiration -
Easy Fruit Jam
https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/recipes/easy-jam
Ingredients
500g fruit of your choice, peeled, chopped (we used raspberries)
500g caster sugar
1/3 cup lemon juice
Method
Combine all the ingredients in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat to medium-low and cook, stirring frequently, for 20 minutes or until thick and glossy.
Ladle jam into sterilised jars, filling to just below the rim, then seal and allow to cool completely.
It is also the perfect time to hold on to empty jars (with lids), and bring them into school for others to collect and fill. We have a box waiting for you now, it's in front of the office window (just under the ledge). Small to medium sized jars are best.

Plants
We need your help!! We are planning for a beautiful lush plant stall at the Fete this year and need…lots of plants! If you, or someone you know, is able to cultivate some clippings or seedlings between now and March, please get your green thumbs into action.
We’d love any type of greenery:
Indoor plants
Outdoor plants
Natives
Flowers
Edibles (herbs etc)
Other items we could also use include:
Plant/gardening books to donate
Unused empty decorative pots
Unopened packets of seeds
Worm tea from worm farms (or jars to collect worm tea)
White clothes rack/hanger for hanging pots
Plant stands
Rattan chairs/table to borrow for the stall
If you happen to be a crafty type, as well as a green thumb, why not try to whip up a few macrame hangers to go with your beautiful pot plants.
Thanks in advance for your green help!
