Student Learning 5/6
Here are some narratives we have been writing in 5/6K
Today the Year 5/6 cohort was visited by Courage to Care who provided an educational program about the importance of standing up to discrimination, empowering each of us to confront prejudice and bullying. Taking inspiration from real-life extraordinary acts of courage by ordinary people, the lovely group of people who came today told many moving stories that engaged both students and staff about how society influences the way we see and treat others, and how certain negative attitudes towards others can lead to social exclusion, intolerance, and injury.
The Upstander Programs inspire people to make a difference by standing up and taking action, creating real change in the schoolyard, workplaces, and in our communities.
In Year 5/6, we have been practising structuring a persuasive topic with three main arguments by having mini debates. The students did a great job of arguing from a point of view.
