5 Minutes With… Get to know the staff at Buninyong PS!

In a large school such as ours it can often be tricky to get to know all of the staff, particularly those not directly involved in teaching your child/ren. You may hear them talk about a staff member and wonder who that is!

Our “staff photo sheet” is one useful resource for parents that we put together each year to help with this (see below). From today, we are also including a weekly newsletter page titled “5 Minutes With…”.

Each week, we will feature a different staff member who will tell us a little bit more about themselves, so that the Buninyong PS school community can get to know the people who contribute to our school and your child/rens education.

Look out for the first staff profile we have included this week featuring Jordon Smith.

Another great way for parents to get to know the staff at our school is to take up opportunities to be involved in any way you are able to be… the fete was a great example of this. Parents/carers are warmly welcome to attend weekly school assemblies, chat to your child/ren’s teachers around helping out in the classroom and we are always looking for volunteers to help out in the canteen, on sausage sizzle days and with other events such as book fairs and excursions. Please keep an eye on Compass and in the newsletter for upcoming events and opportunities - such as the one below!

Parent Afternoon Tea - Invitation

We’d like to invite all interested parents and carers, as well any other friends of the school, to an afternoon tea on Wednesday April 5 from 2.30 - 3.30pm to be held in the staffroom.

The contribution of parents and carers is highly valued at Buninyong PS and we are keen to help to develop connections within our school community and provide opportunities for parents and carers to meet others and develop friendships.

Feedback from our school community last year through our PLP survey indicated that opportunities for social catch ups and meeting others was highly valued. If there is enough interest, we could look at expanding this to informal monthly catch ups.

All members of our school community are welcome, and encouraged, to come along. Light refreshments will be provided. Hope to see you there!

Mobile Phone Reminder

Please note that the Department of Education has strict and clear guidelines on the use of these devices in government schools by students.

Mobile phones must be switched off and may not be used during school hours, including recess and lunchtime. Students will be required to store their phones in the teacher’s office.

Parents wishing to contact their child during the school day can contact the office and we will pass on the message.

Mobile phones owned by students at Buninyong Primary School are considered valuable items and are brought to school at the owner’s (student’s or parent/carer’s) risk.  Students are encouraged not to bring a mobile phone to school unless there is a compelling reason to do so.
