Dear Families and Friends,

Catholic Education Week

This week we celebrate Catholic Education Week (CEW). The theme is 'Forming lives of Faith, hope and love in the light of Christ.' CEW is an opportunity for all Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Melbourne to celebrate their Catholic Identity, the pivotal role they play within their local community and the strength of the sector. To celebrate, a number of activities have been organised, including the annual St Patrick’s Day Mass for schools and Concert and a Visual Arts Exhibition.

Loving God,

In this Catholic Education Week,
when we celebrate Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Melbourne,
we thank you for the teachers, students, families and administrators
who together create school communities of faith, hope and love.
We ask you to bless our schools
as they continue the mission of Catholic education.
May they always be places where young people
are formed and inspired by the light of Christ
and share the joy of the Gospel with all the world.

We ask this prayer through your son and our Teacher, Jesus Christ.
Amen.

Reconciliation

Next week our Year 3 students will receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time.

This is a very special time in the children’s lives and we ask that you keep them in your prayers. We thank the parents of these children who have prepared them at home and supported the work done at school by the teachers. Reconciliation will be held on Tuesday 21st March 7.00 to 8.00pm

House Cross Country

Today we conducted our Annual House Cross Country. The running course was inside and outside the school grounds. Thanks to our parent helpers and staff who were able to make this day possible. Congratulations to all competitors. Thanks also to Mr Johnson for organising the event.

4M Assembly

Thank you to Year 4M for their Assembly this morning. They led us in prayer and also shared the great learning they have been doing in class in relation to being safe online and how to behave responsibly online.

Well done 4M!

Working Bee

A school working bee will be held Saturday 18th March commencing at 1:30 pm. We will focus on giving the school a good tidy up. We would love to finish at 4:30 pm with a sausage sizzle. Again, we encourage everyone to come along, even if only for an hour or two – many hands make light work.

Enrolments 2024

If any current school families require an enrolment form for 2024, please contact the office. We would like these forms returned by March 23rd 2023 so we have an idea of our numbers for 2024 before we offer places to new families.

Our Open Day will be held on  Thursday 23rd March, running from 9am-3pm. This is a great opportunity for new families looking for a school for their children for 2024 to come along and see what St Justin's has to offer. At that time they can also collect an enrolment form.

OPEN DAY

Our Open Day will be held on Thursday March 23rd 9am-3pm, which is an opportunity for new families looking for a school for their children for 2024 to come along and have a look at our school and at that time collect an enrolment form. So if you know someone who is getting a child ready for school be sure to let them know!

Ride2School Day 2023

On Friday 24th of March we will be participating in the National Ride2School Day.

National Ride2School Day is all about everyone in the community making their way to school by riding, scooting or skating. Upon arrival students participating will receive a raffle ticket which will go in the draw to win some prizes at school.  “The Flying Bike” a mobile bicycle workshop will also be on site to look over bikes and educate our students on how to keep their bikes in working order.

Harmony Day

Next Tuesday we will celebrate Haromony Day - students are invited to wear a touch of orange. We will also have a whole school assembly at 9:00am - everyone welcome. There will be no assembly on Monday morning.

Harmony Week is the celebration that recognises our diversity and brings together Australians from all different backgrounds. It’s about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone.

Early pick up

If your child is leaving early, the preferred and most convenient method is via the Skoolbag app to notify the teacher your child will be leaving early. Remembering between 11:05-11:45 (Recess) and 1:20pm-2:00pm (Lunch) the children will be out on the playgrounds and we are unable to call classes to collect. Marking the attendance roll is a legal requirement and your assistance in supporting  the correct capture of information is greatly appreciated.

Drop off and pick up

In the morning, there are two teachers on yard duty in the school grounds from 8:40am. If you wish to drop your child off before 8:40am, please use the Before School Care service provided by Camp Australia - we would hate for your child to arrive at school and no-one be here to care for them. Whilst there is usually someone here around 8:00am, it’s important to remember that staff are busy preparing for the day ahead or involved in meetings.

After school, a teacher is on playground duty until 3:45pm. After this time students who are yet to be picked up will be taken to the office.  We will attempt to ring their parents to make sure everything is ok. If, for any reason, you are running late, just give the office a ring and let us know.

Please note that students should not be dropped off or picked up in the staff car park. In the morning and at the end of the day, the car park becomes a busy place with people walking in all directions.
