Energy Breakthrough Challenge

Since 1991, the Energy Breakthrough has provided opportunities for students, teachers, parents and local industry to work together to design and construct a vehicle, a machine or innovation in technology that will represent an ‘energy breakthrough’.

The program is unique in that all teams must compete across three areas of assessment:

  1. Design and Construction,
  2. Display and Presentation and
  3. Trials.

In what is an extremely competitive registration process, Malvern Primary School were fortunate to have successfully registered a team for this year's Energy Breakthrough race in Maryborough this November for the first time in our school’s history.

The opportunity to be part of our racing team will be opened up to all Year 5 and 6 students and families who may be interested. We will have an information session early in Term 2 which will go through some finer details of how we will prepare between now and November’s race. We encourage all families to come along.

Throughout the year, all of the year levels outside of Year 5 and 6 will play a key role in the naming and designing of our school’s trike.

The Energy Breakthrough Challenge is around bringing the entire school community together. From knowledge, to sponsorship and volunteerism, we are excited for the school to help share in with this experience.
