Acting Principal's Message-

Shaun Doherty

2023 is Well Underway

The start of 2023 is well underway. As a college, we have been working hard on setting high expectations for learning, behaviour and attendance. Despite the introduction of the Senior School Reforms (including the VCE Vocational Major and changes to our Year 10 program), the induction of our new Year 7 cohort, and the beginning of a new Strategic Plan, it has been a smooth and settled beginning to the year.

Alongside our teaching and learning program, we have provided some unique opportunities for our students, including:

  • The Year 12 Study Camp
  • Surf excursions
  • Year 7 Immersion week
  • Two Outdoor Education Camps to Wilsons Promontory
  • Debating competition
  • Senior School Sport day
  • MAP excursions
  • Staff Versus Students events

Thank you to all the staff and students involved in these events.

A Strong Focus on Attendance

Thank you to relevant families that have engaged with leaders from our Year Level Teams to improve our students' attendance. Following the impact of multiple lockdowns and the pandemic, the attendance of all students is a big focus for us as a college. We know that even missing one day of school a fortnight will equal missing 1.5 years over 13 years of schooling. Every day counts when it comes to student attendance. We know that getting a teenager to school is not always easy and that we all need to work together to improve student attendance.

A resource that some parents/guardians may be interested in is this website which shares strategies for responding to school reluctance or refusal. Don't hesitate to get in touch with the relevant year-level leader if you require support with your child’s school attendance.
