Our Year 9-12 debating teams had a very successful night at the first round of the DAV Debating Competition. All six of our debating teams won their debates! Students produced speeches on a range of issues including whether we should make extracurricular activities compulsory, change the compulsory voting system, and whether countries should provide military support. Students impressed their audiences with their argumentation skills, ability to work as a team and respect for all competitors. A big congratulations to our competing students!
A number of students were also awarded the best speaker for their debates. These speakers were Lucy Ryan, Sarah Newhouse, Florencia Herrera, Cara Egry, Aisha Binnie, Olivia Moffat and Audrey Callanan.

Our Senior Book Club had its official first meeting and it was exciting to see so many members. Share time was so interesting with the students speaking about the current book they are reading and why they chose that particular book.
It was such a treat to celebrate the Australian Reading Hour with the students. Held over two lunchtimes it felt so indulgent to have a quiet 30 minutes to read in the middle of the day. The event was well supported by our book lovers.
Happy Reading!
When you are in the MRC next check out the Easter Raffle, put together by our fabulous Year 7s. Clearly chocoholics, and proud to be supporting Project Compassion.
