Yarning Circle News
BNPS Yarning Circle has only had one significant date to recognise and celebrate during the past fortnight, National Close the Gap Day which occurs on the 16th of March. National Close the Gap Day has a specific focus every year, this year’s focus is on how the cultural determinants of health play a vital role in achieving long-term health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities. In the yarning circle we celebrated the day by the students showing their voice through a range of activities they could choose. The yarning group also played a range of indigenous inspired sport games on the oval.
During the next fortnight the yarning group will be celebrating Harmony Day where all cultures are celebrated and recognised. To celebrate Harmony Day the yarning group students will have the chance to ask other students to come into the yarning circle and participate in some of the activities with their friends.
