Year 07 Camp

Our year 07 students attended the annual transition camp at the Valley Homestead two weeks ago. The camp is designed to challenge and build confidence in our students and to help foster positive relationships with each other and their teachers.

From all accounts everyone had a great time and the staff commented on how well-behaved the students were.

Whilst on camp the students were involved in activities such as Aerial Obstacle Course, Vertical Challenge, Dual Flying Fox, Bush Survival and other activities.

I would like to thank the following staff for going on the camp: Jasmine Collins, Michelle Wallis, Klaudia Lavrans, Kasi Bird, Andrew Angelopoulos, Elliott Gooding, Janelle Spinks and Ben Zanin who went to camp also - it is a huge commitment from staff to go along on these types of experiences, and it is greatly appreciated by students and families.

Year 05 - 12 Athletics Carnival

I undertook the role of starting marshal and noticed an increase in the number of competitors from previous years. It was a great success, and I am sure that the students will have many lifelong memories. The highlights for me was staff vs students’ race, unfortunately, the staff didn’t win the 4x100m running relay.

Thanks to David Crowe for all of his hard work on making this event happen, the office staff for the “behind the scene” administration work, Michelle Wallis and the PE staff for their unending support, and every staff member and student leader who contributed to make this day such a highlight of the school calendar.

F - 06 Twilight Sports and Welcome BBQ

This was the first year that we ran this night. Many families attended and it was a great success. Students competed in running events around our new track and then participated in a number of tabloid sports. All events contributed points towards the House trophy.

The highlight of the evening was the staff V parents tunnel ball race which I am pleased to say the staff won - It was hotly contested, and I dealt with all protests in an objective manner.  A special thank you to Nic Cameron and Talina Ellis who organised the event along with the PaFM who ran the BBQ.

Also, thank you to Karen Butterworth, Anna Collins, Bev Nguyen and Crispy Floyd who helped out on the night. I am sure that in time this event will grow into another school highlight.

Jaga Jaga Community Volunteer Awards 2023

Macleod College nominated Cathie Clarke for a 2023 Jaga Jaga Community Volunteer Award.

Cathie has been involved with Macleod College since 2003 when her eldest child started Year 7.  As an active member of the Chaplaincy Committee, she helped organise reunions and the sale of second-hand books and uniforms until 2016, when the position of Chaplaincy ceased.

Since 2017 Cathie has not only continued to volunteer with reunions, jubilees and the administration of the second-hand uniform shop and end of year second-hand book sale, but has also organised other volunteers to help.

For the past twenty-one years, she has also assisted at the Mainly Music Playgroup and the Hope Springs Community Centre for people living with mental illness and social isolation

A deserving recipient of this award. Thank you Cathie!
