Swimming Carnival

Lightning Writing Prompt: On the Wednesday 22nd of February, we had the Macleod College Swimming Carnival. It was a great day because:-

Each House Colour has a shed for the students to sit under. I'm in Sheppard House. It is the green team. We sat on the blankets we played UNO and poker. I saw many classmates involved in the swimming competitions. Next to me, I heard many people cheering. The fries there are delicious, but a bit salty. All my friends gathered around to share food at lunch. It was hot, but we all had fun.   Cindy Zhang

It was a great day because this was a very fun day. I can see a lot of people in funny costumes like ghost, chef and maid. I heard splashing, yelling and noisy students. In the Swimming Carnival, I went down the long waterside with my friends. When I went down the blue side, I can see the tree and sky. The green slide is scarier than blue. When I entered it, I can’t see anything. I feel someone above and below me. It was so scary. After that, we decided to change clothes and bought some food. It was a great day because I see swimmers, friends, water and happy student. Some senior students were dressed up. I saw a convict, maid and mermaids. I hear noisy laughter, talking, splashing and screaming. I feel cool, happy, funny, excited and a little shy. My house is Shephard. I went down the slides 5 times and it felt great because it’s my first time. I ate fries and sweets with my friends.   Linh Pham

It was a great day because we really had fun. There were many people gathering in different places. I was in the Green House so I wore a green T-shirt and a pair of green socks. Moreover, I saw lots of people dressed up like different characters. Swimmers were all excited to show themselves and others were cheering for them. Screams and laughs were everywhere. We also played cards and ate some snacks together. We sat on the grass, enjoying the sunshine very much.   Nancy Qian

In the morning, we all took the bus to the swimming pool. We got there by 10:30. It is a big swimming pool. The weather is very hot. It was the best day to go swimming. Everyone was wearing House Colours. I saw a lot of students dressed in red, green, yellow and blue.

It was a great day because all of us had fun. It was a sunny day. We saw swimmers, and some senior students were wearing funny costumes. We watched the interesting competitions as well. What’s more, we heard people cheering for the competitors, they were laughing, and they really enjoyed themselves. For lunch, we shared our food with each other. The swimmers felt cold and nervous, but we were all happy and joyful. It was a wonderful day.    Zoe Ying

It was a great day because everyone seems very happy. Some students wore funny costumes like ghosts, mermaids, and convict. I am in  Shepard House and I need to wear green clothes, but I don’t have any green clothes. But I have a green water bottle. I met my friends from other classes. We have a good time at the water slides. After I went down the water slide, I felt cold but happy.  We were all talking joyfully, taking photos and laughing a lot.    Vy Do

It was a great day because I felt very happy. I see friends in the water swimming. With some other friends we play card games. It’s very amusing. At noon I had a sandwich and we bought ice cream. I didn't go in the water, but I made some new friends and had fun.

Athletics Carnival

Lightning Writing Prompt: On Wednesday 22 of March we had the Macleod College Athletics carnival. It was a great day because…

The first thing I did was the 100 meters running event. I  came 4th and I was happy. After I ran, I ate something for my  energy and I talked with my friends. The next event was the high jump but I wasn’t really good because I haven’t practised high jump for one and a half year. My friends and I entered the relay.  I passed the baton to my friends in year 9.  I was running really fast. Our team came 2nd place and we were very excited to get a red ribbon.   Nidal Guebre

It was a great day because everyone did what they wanted, running, shot put, face painting and even playing cards. A lot of students won the races and got ribbons and brought some points for their House Colours. In the last hour we did the relay. People were cheering and yelling for the runners to run faster! I was so grateful to be at an amazing event like this because it was a time for students to show off and challenge themselves. We took plenty of photos of IELC students and mainstream students proudly holding their ribbons in the air. On the bus everybody was so tired that I think they slept on the way back, including myself!   Nika Heydari Asil

I saw some people throwing javelins and shot put. The opponent in the 100-meter event is very strong.  I saw the long-distance runners, they were very tired, but they insisted on finishing the race. As for the high jumpers, their jumping movements are perfect. My classmates and I participated in the 4x100 relay event. We came third.   Jack Zheng

It was a great day because I wore my house colour. I watched my friend run fast. I feel very cheerful. I look at my friend in the long jump and high jump events. I hear students and teachers yelling and joking. I see Bardia when he fell down, it was awful. I hope he did not hurt himself too much. I didn’t compete, I just talked with my friends and cheer for the competitors on the ground. I ate hot chips and sandwiches. It was a perfect day.

It was a great day. I didn't take part in any of the sporting activities, but I had my face painted with my friends, which we did for each other. There were some awesome drawings such as butterflies, hearts, rainbow and flowers. Then, we shared drinks, snacks and hot chips during a cool day. It was just like a picnic with all of my friends around. I enjoyed the Athletics Carnival very much.   Ava Xie

It was great day because we did not do any study. It was like a free day for me and it was your choice if you wanted to do sport. I competed in the 100 meter running race, but I came last. I really didn’t try very hard. I wanted to eat and talk with my friends. I also went tot the canteen.    TK Chusawai

I enjoy myself. First of all I run the 200 meter event.  There are four people in it and they run very fast. At the start I ran the fastest but in the end I lose the match and came 3rd place. I ate some food. I feel excited and I saw many happy people and House Colour. I also had my face pained. I did the relay race with three other people. There are me, Jack, Yuchen and Guan. Finally, we get the 3rd place. I enjoy myself very much.

 It was a great day because it’s very amusing and cheerful. I wear a white shirt but it has a green pattern because my house colour is green. I see many happy people with ribbons because they won the events. My friend and I do face painting, I paint a pink heart. I ran 100 metre and I felt awful because I lost. Lunchtime, I ate cake and milk tea with my friend and played cards. After lunch, I play javelin but it was the same as the running, I was so gloomy. Then I competed in shot put and I was the winner! I was given the first ribbon. I was joyful. I joined a relay and won one more time. I have a second ribbons. This event is very fabulous and exciting. In summary, I received two ribbons one first and one second. And I will compete in the next round for shot put.   Lily Nguyen

It was a great day because I was with my friends and I made new friends and I competed in discus, running and javelin. But I didn't get any ribbons. In running, I fell down, and I lost that game and that made me feel awful. But I saw people who are joyful and cheering me on. I felt excited and awesome. I heard people laughed and they were so happy. My house colour was blue, but I wore black clothes because I didn't have any blue clothes. I played soccer with other grade students. I did painting on my face. It was a little black heart.
