PRINCIPAL REPORT

From the College Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,

We are obviously all disappointed that we have entered another period of lock-down. I know that our community will, once again, be able to support each-other to get through the next week.

Teachers are spending today preparing for remote learning next week. Details of work for each of your child’s lessons can be accessed via Compass. To navigate to the work that has been set, open your child’s schedule, and click on the class title. This will take you to a page that includes the lesson plan.

Our experience with previous lockdowns tells us that it is the emotional and psychological impacts which present the greatest challenge.

To assist you in navigating this tricky time with your family, I have included the link to a special report, “Riding the Corona Rollercoaster” which SchoolTV produced last year. Whilst the references to current events may be dated, the advice for helping families to manage during a lockdown is still excellent.

The video is only 10 minutes long, and I commend it to you.

In closing, I ask that we all continue to do everything we can to stop the spread of COVID. It is critical that we practise the hygiene and social distancing measures we are familiar with and honour, with action, the importance of not attending work places and school if you have fever-like symptoms, and of getting a COVID screening test if you do. Of course, now that vaccinations are available to anyone over the age of 40, I urge you to arrange for this as soon as possible. (I had mine three weeks ago).

Take care, look after yourselves and others, and please contact the school if you have any concerns.

Yours sincerely,

Richard Minack

Principal
