Enhancing Catholic School Identity Surveys

Thank you to the families that have taken the time to complete the surveys as the results will help our school focus on the identity you believe is evident within the life of our school. A gentle reminder to complete the survey by next week please.

As stated by Pope Francis in 2013, a  Catholic School's Mission is as follows:

Catholic schools, which always strive to join their work of education with the explicit proclamation of the Gospel, are a most valuable resource for the evangelization of culture. (Francis 2013, n. 134)

Promotional upgrade

We are in the process of upgrading the school website with current photos and videos to reflect what is happening in our school community.  Please complete the request in Operoo so that the school knows which children can be part of the promotional work.

Promotional card drops

The closure of St Kevin's School  Ormond at the end of 2020 has opened up to our school the catchment area for enrolments.  We are now able to take families up to North Road between Koornang and Grange Roads.  We have new promotional cards that need to be distributed in the new area as well as the areas in our Glen Hunlty and Caulfield Parish boundary.  If you are able to help out would you please be so kind as to contact the school.

Walk to School Day

Well done to all the children who walked to school today and may have been dropped off a little further away than usual. Thank you to the Sports Leaders who helped distribute each child with a sticker.

Food at school

Just a reminder to all families regarding anaphylaxis, in conjunction with our school’s Anaphylaxis Policy and current Covid 19 strategies put in place,  the school will avoid the use of nut based products in all school activities, and we request that parents do not send those items to school if at all possible. In particular please check the ingredients of muesli bar packets to see if they include nuts.  To avoid any cases, we ask that families take special notice of the rules to not share foods. To minimize all risks we ask that lollypops, glass items (containers to store food) and cans, such as tuna or beans, not be sent to school for recess or lunch.

Sick Children

A number of students have been coming to school this week with cold symptoms of a cough and/or runny nose. They should not be sent to school with cold symptoms, if they need a mask or if they have had paracetamol before school. It is in the best interests of students and staff that we try and minimise the spread of any viruses and keeping sick children at home will assist with this.

A reminder that any child who comes to school sick or not recovered completely from an illness will be required to return home.  It is in the interest for all students and staff that we all remain well, especially with the colder weather having a higher degree of colds and illnesses.  Just because a child receives a negative result for a Covid test, does not exclude that they still have cold and flu symptoms and they should stay home to recuperate.

School clothing

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE label your child's jumper or jacket as there is a growing number on unnamed tops in lost property that deserve to be their owners.

PFA Mothers’ Day Breakfast and Stall

Last Friday brought the school mothers together for the first time since March 2020.   The breakfast was well attended and there seemed to be a great deal of chatter and laughter.  The fathers and their helpers provided a delicious breakfast for mothers and children alike.   The new gift venture proved to be greatly appreciated with a selection of gifts that were more than expected.

Feedback from the children and the mothers will be worthwhile. Scott, Troy and their team should be proud of the day’s events.

Mothers' Day Stall

I hope that you all have a good weekend and I thank you for taking the time to read our comprehensive newsletter.

Your sincerely
