Vermont Secondary College
Well done this week to all our Year 9 Students who have partaken in NAPLAN! Good luck next week as you finish your NAPLAN journey...
There is a two-week window of opportunity to change ONE of your Semester 2 electives. (This does not include languages as they are full year programs). You can collect a form from your Student Manager, and they will be accepted this from 8.30am on Monday 17th May - with the last day being Friday 28th May. Changes will be considered in order of submission and of course depending on there being space in that class, so we suggest you try to get your application in promptly.
The weather is getting steadily colder... so it is time to rug up. Please ensure that you have sufficient school uniform (please source from PSW) to keep warm this winter:
VSC long-sleeve white business shirt or blouse
VSC navy wool-blend jumper
VSC soft-shell jacket
Grey trousers
VSC Navy blue straight-legged pants
VSC tartan skirt
Note: the sports rugby top is part of the sports uniform ONLY and is not to be worn as school uniform. Girls can also wear trousers, not just the skirt, particularly for the colder weather...
Student Managers will not be accepting notes for replacement jackets, jumpers, hoodies/windcheaters or the sports rugby top. House staff will provide students with a clean VSC jumper that can be worn throughout the day and then returned.
Finally, we wanted to congratulate the Year 9 Geography Students on their wonderful work with all the Fieldworks they have done over the last 3 weeks. 9H2, 9M1, 9M3, 9S1 and 9S3 all went with Ms Allison, Ms Farry, Mr Calwell and the Inclusion team to the Vermont South shops to examine how food secure we are and discover what Biomes their food comes from. Thank you to the staff and students for ensuring the day was smoothly run!
We also saw the Year 9 Geography Elective "Out on the Town" go to the Melbourne CBD on Thursday the 6th of May, to investigate the sustainable and culturally significant buildings in the city. The 2 classes had beautiful weather as they did a walking tour based around Federation Square and investigated how sustainable the city will be in the future. Thank you to Ms Allison, Ms Farry and Ms Macoboy for ensuring the day was enjoyed by all and that the students could answer their Research Question!
Eid Mubarak to all our Muslim families connected with Vermont Secondary College.
