It is always risky booking an excursion to the coast in May but the weather really turned it on for us on Friday the 7th when our Year 10 Geography in Action class had our fieldwork. We went to four different beaches around Port Phillip Bay to observe how the coastlines are being managed and cared for. It was a lovely, sunny day and a great group of students to spend the day with.
Big thanks to Helen Bowker and Isobel Kiefel for helping us out on the day.
The Dandenong Ranges was a great and extremely fun experience to me, as we got to experience the natural environment and beautiful scenery. I saw evidence of the lyrebird, a spider and I also saw Mountain Ash- this species of tree can grow up to over 100m.
It is extremely cool and I certainly enjoyed the journey.

When we went to Burke’s Lookout, we saw an amazing view of the land below us, and we
even saw Melbourne City! It was an extraordinary view that I will never forget.

Zahra: On the 28th April, Wednesday, a group of year 8 students went on a field trip to the Dandenong Ranges. We each learned new facts about the ranges and we had a lot of fun!
Sharada: I learned the difference between the 3 tracks and how the habitat changes in each one. I learned the difference between the damp, rain and dry forests and how the lighting in the forests change. I liked the tour guide. She was very good at explaining the surroundings, and I understood what she was saying and explaining
