Principal's Report

Vermont Secondary College

Open Evening

Thank you to all the community members who attended our annual Year 7 Family Information Session for prospective Year 7 students (in 2022) and Open Evening held Thursday the 29th April.  Attendance was high with many families visiting the college for the event.  A special thanks to all the Learning Area Leaders, teachers, Education Support staff and students who were involved in the planning and/or attending or performing on the night.  Feedback was extremely positive on the night and the support of the staff here and the local community is greatly appreciated.

Division Cross Country

Congratulations to the 88 Vermont students who competed on Tuesday 4th May in the Division cross country at Nortons Park, Wantirna. Vermont SC won the Junior and Senior Division and were runners up in the Intermediate division against Mount Waverley, Glen Waverley and Highvale SC. This gave VSC the overall winning shield on the day. Thank you to all the staff who attended, supporting and supervising the students for the day.

Students who performed well on the day now move on to the Eastern Metropolitan Regional finals on the Tuesday 15th June at the Yarra Glen racecourse. Good luck with the next level of competition!  For a full report of their fantastic win go to the Sport Update section in this newsletter.

Upcoming Events & Key Dates

VSC MID-YEAR REPORT WRITING DAY – FRIDAY 11 JUNE, 2021

Parents/guardians are also reminded that Friday 11th June is a pupil free day.  Vermont Secondary College will be using the day as an Assessment and Report Writing

Day and students in Years 7 – 12 are not required at school.

VCE Senior Social - Friday 11 June

The college will again hold its annual VCE Senior Social that commences at 7:00pm and concludes at 11:30pm at L'Unica on Parkville, 476 Brunswick Road Parkville.  Parents who are collecting students from the event are requested to arrive well in time for a prompt departure at the conclusion of the evening, mindful of the distance of the venue.

Your consideration and punctuality would be greatly appreciated. Parents must arrange for the collection of students between 11:30pm -11.45 pm.

Students who are not picked up by 12 midnight will be sent home in a taxi at their own expense.

Further, students and guests are strongly advised to have a warm coat to wear to and from the social.

It is to be remembered that many senior students are under the age of 18 and therefore activities such as ‘after parties’ are not endorsed by the college.

The wellbeing and safety of your child is of paramount importance and my recommendation would be that all students return to the family home following the social to a fully supervised adult environment.
