Active Travel

Active Travel in the Neighbourhood!

Sadly there has been a hiatus on Active Travel at BPPS, but I know from walking around the streets near my home, there are many children and adults being active by going for walks, riding their bikes or scooters and playing in the parks.

Thankfully the activity at BPPS will start back next week with Walk and Wheel Wednesday, the Learning to Ride a Bike Program and all going well, Dr Cranky’s will be back onsite on Wednesday morning repairing and recycling bikes.

Learn to Ride a Bike Program

Sadly the Learn to Ride a Bike Program did not happen over the last two weeks. I will be emailing the families of the children that have been impacted by this over the next few days. I am planning that they will attend the program on a Tuesday at lunchtimes in the last two weeks of Term 2.

This means that the program will run on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in the last two weeks of Term 2.

Even though the program has not happened over the last two weeks, it has been a perfect opportunity to practise learning to ride your bike at home. Hopefully you have headed outside and practised in your backyard or street or down at the park. Learning to ride a bike can take time, so the more you practise, the quicker you will learn!

The Grade 6 Sport Leaders and I look forward to continuing to help students learn  to ride their bikes next week.

Dr Cranky's

The Dr Cranky's Team all being well, will be onsite next Wednesday morning outside of the school hall from 8:20am.

They are a fabulous group of volunteers who will in addition to recycling bikes, tune up an old bike if they are not working very well.  If your child’s bike needs some care, please bring your bike in on a Wednesday morning. They can lube chains, fix flat tyres and replace a damaged or broken gear cable or brake cables etc. What ever is needed, they can get your child's bike back into being a fabulous well-tuned riding machine!

If you would like to learn more about the program, come down and meet everyone on a Wednesday morning before school from 8:20am. You can also look at the website https://www.drcrankys.com.au/

Additionally, if you would like to donate a bike, please come down on a Wednesday morning or email me on Julie.Tainsh@education.vic.gov.au

The Dr Cranky's Team look forward to seeing you there.
