Wattle Group

Emma, Rex and Anne

Second term has gotten off to a busy start with our Mother’s day afternoon tea and photo week.

The children are now at the emerging stages of cooperative play, becoming more and more involved in each other’s play.  They are forming some new friends and are now seeking out specific peers to join them in play or sit with them during snack and mat time.

Music and movement time has proven to be a popular group experience for Wattle Group, with a few of our favourite songs being 'The Goldfish Song',  'Sleeping Bunnies' and 'Going on a Bush Walk'. Songs (particularly those which incorporate finger, hand and body movement) support children to develop a variety of skills and are a fun and playful way to explore concepts. Music and movement experiences support the development of language, vocabulary, educational concepts and fine and gross motor skills.

The Wattle Group continue to build their independence within their self-help skills - such as managing their belongings, their clothes and eating. As they build up their fine motor skills, these tasks become easier for children. In order to increase these skills it is important to use equipment which the children can achieve success with to build their confidence.

We are planning on holding some parent teacher interviews at the end of this term. These are are not compulsory but they are great for a check in about your child’s progress at kindergarten. If you do have any concerns or questions, we are usually available after the session on Tuesday for a chat or you can always email wattlelivingston@gmail.com

Lastly if you haven’t already make sure to enrol for next year through Bayside council.
