Boronia Group

Yvonne, Alyson, Beena and Julie.

A busy and adventure-filled term has occurred in Boronia Group. The children resettled with ease  after the holiday break. We welcomed a new educator to our Group, Julie, along with several new Boronia Group children. The children have continued to get to know each other in the group  through play and learning experiences.

One of our group goals this term has been to learn about our personal space and understand how we can tell others if they are too close to our space bubbles, explaining if we need a little more space. We have begun to  introduce the helping hand. The helping hand is a special helper for the morning to help with the setting of the café tables for snack and lunch. Through this we are learning to take turns.

Autumn has created some beautiful and colourful changes in our yard. The tree in the middle of the yard has begun to change colour to several different shades of yellow, green, brown and red. This has sparked our curiosity in Autumn, changing seasons and what is happening around us. We  have spotted some insects in our backyard, leading to the indoor insect discovery tray.

Boronia Group have begun to further explore the Kinder and their learning using their senses.  We especially enjoy sand and water play. We like to get active and move about with action and movement. Rhymes and songs form part of our weekly time together on Friday. Role play – the  vegetable shop, camping picnics, sea creatures and pirate ships, and the medical centre have been inspiring play spaces for the children to discover, learn, role play and develop language skills.

Our Kinder children were very excited this term to welcome some very special guests into our Kinder Room this term for Mother’s Day. Mothers, Grandmothers and special guests were treated to time spent beading, flower craft, backyard play, manicures and reading stories. The afternoon was a very special time for the Kinder children and visitors.

The Kinder children have continued to develop their voices throughout the term and are beginning to  communicate their needs with greater confidence with the educators in the room. Their confidence in moving in, under, over and across the various climbing apparatus has further developed this term.

Housekeeping bits and pieces:

As the days continue to become colder, please send a change of clothes and layer their clothing so the children are able to take layers off if they get too hot or put back on if they are too cold. If your child is unwell, please keep them home. Continue to check  the outside box for notices, artwork and other information.

We look forward to seeing you all again in Term 3.

Bye for now!
