Division and Regional Cross Country

Recently, we had two students come within the top 12 at the Rowville District Cross Country competition. These two students, Mason Rahjer and Aarya Shundravel advance into the Knox Division Cross Country competition. On a sunny day, both our runners did extremely well, keeping pace with the other runners through the long 3km course at Jells Parks.

We are particularly proud of Mason at this event in the U11 Boys event who came 17th with a time of 11 minutes 52 seconds, an extraordinary time for the 3km race.

Congratulations to Aarya in the U12 Girls race who came 5th overall with a time of just over 12 minutes. Aarya’s tremendous effort allowed her to advance to the Eastern Regional Cross Country Championships. At the Regional event, Aarya made a quick dash from the starting line and pushed herself through the long grass throughout the Yarra Valley racecourse track. Overall Aarya was placed 68th out of the best 90 long distance runners over the eastern metropolitan schools, a great attempt at this elite level of competition.

St Simon Athletics Team

The Rowville District Athletics Competition will be on Friday 11th August in Term 3. Our St Simon’s District Athletics team will be announced shortly.

Selection within this team is based not only on the times and distances collected from our Year 3-6 Athletic Day but through tracks and field skills and measurements obtained within the Physical Education program. In addition, previous times and results from last year’s District Athletics competition will be taken into consideration during the selection.

We ask parents to keep an eye out for the Operoo permission form stating your child’s selection into the St Simon Athletics team.
