From the Art Room

Year 12 Art Making & Exhibiting students recently completed Unit 3 artworks for presentation and peer review. These were made in a range of artforms. The class explored the characteristics of select materials and techniques to express ideas and subject matter of their own choice, learning from the work of renowned artists in this process. Themes include childhood, Australian landscape, relationships, war, violence and trauma, female archetypes, identity, life and death, societal pressure and more. Here is a selection. Congratulations to the class on all that they have achieved so far. We look forward to seeing your Unit 4 artworks in a term’s time!

Artworks by Staxey Canedo, Ciara Hammond, Sabira Nazari, Vanessa Nguyen, Christine Peralta, Aneesah Shamin, Dion Stanton and Zia Sultani

Refugee Week Outdoor Artwork

Congratulations to the Enhance Street Art students who contributed to two temporary Refugee Week outdoor artworks this week. Reflecting on the 2023 theme ‘Finding Freedom’, students examined a range of refugee circumstances and looked at refugee stories. Some stories were from class members themselves, some internationally known and others from staff and students of the college. Using symbols of birds, open cages, boats, clothing, the ocean, ‘message in a bottle’ and abandoned objects the students visualised these ideas and made this important cause visible in our college community. A great way to finish Term 2.
