GENERAL NEWS

YEAR 5 LEADERSHIP DAY

Our Year 5 Leadership Day will be held tomorrow in the school Auditorium.  All Year 5 students will take part in the activities for the Leadership Day and we are sure that they will come away from the day with leadership skills that they can carry with them into next year.

NEARLY THE END OF PRIMARY SCHOOL FOR OUR YEAR 6 STUDENTS

It is such a busy and exciting final term for our senior students in Year 6 as they complete their primary schooling.  In many ways, these students have 'outgrown' the Primary routine and are looking forward to the new challenges and routines provided by the High School setting.

However, it is important not to look too far ahead and forget to cherish what is happening in the present.  With only weeks left, we encourage our Year 6 students to continue to work hard in class and respect the teachers and their peers who have travelled the Primary journey with them. We urge them to enjoy, for what may be the last time, the friendship and opportunities that have made their Year 6 experience so memorable.

YEAR 6 YEARBOOK

Please note that the Year 6 Year Book is currently being compiled. There may be photographs including students other than Year 6 children (eg. buddies/Green Day etc) throughout the Year Book and we need to make all aware that if you do not wish to have your child's photograph appear in the Year Book then you must notify the school as soon as possible.

LOST PROPERTY

We have accumulated a number of sports jackets and drink bottles. Please ask your child/ren to check lost property for any missing items.

ST NICHOLAS FEAST DAY - WHOLE SCHOOL MASS-END OF YEAR AWARDS

This year our End of Year Mass will be on Monday 6th December. This Mass will be a Whole School Mass beginning at 9.30am with ALL students to be dressed in full summer uniform.

Unfortunately, due to restrictions, there will be limits as to the numbers of parents and friends that are able to join us here at school. We will be extending an invitation to the Yr 6 parents. Due to current restrictions, it is only the parents of these children that will be able to attend and both parents will need to be fully vaccinated. We will be providing a recording of the Mass and award presentation for parents to view if they are unable to attend. At this Mass, we will formally acknowledge and farewell our Year 6 students as well as present our annual awards.

PRESENTATION NIGHT  - The Virtual Look!

Given the restrictions in place, our annual presentation night will take on a different format this year. Instead of viewing the evening from a chair at the TRECC, families will be able to sit together in the comfort of their own home to watch the amazing talents of our students and staff celebrating the 'year that was' via a pre-recorded link.  Preparations are well on their way to make this a special event for all to enjoy. Watch this space for more information.

SUPERVISION OF STUDENTS

All parents need to be aware, our supervision of students

does not begin until 8.15am each day.

We are increasingly concerned that some children are being dropped off before 8am and are waiting outside the school gates unsupervised. Please organise alternative care for your child if your child requires supervision before 8.15am.

ICAS EXAMS

Earlier in the year, Year 4, 5 and 6 students were given the opportunity to register for the annual UNSW ICAS Exams.  With the recent COVID lockdown in the Tamworth LGA, we have moved the online exam dates to the following:

Spelling Bee                    -     Thursday 18th November

Mathematics                   -     Monday 22nd November

Catch ups                         -     Thursday 25th November

All exams are held online and in the school auditorium from 11.45am on the above mentioned dates.  Registered students will be collected from class.

ACCOUNTS

There will be no fee invoices issued this term. We would be most grateful if all outstanding accounts could be paid by the end of November. If you are experiencing any difficulties in paying fees or would like to discuss payment options please contact Mrs Robyn Burke or Mrs Shauna Lee on 67661500.

LIVING WELL, LEARNING WELL

We would like to take this opportunity to remind all our families on our three rules for living at St Nicholas Primary School.

  1. I am safe.
  2. I am valued, respected and cared for.
  3. I am a learner.

If we are following these rules, we are showing that 'Manners Matter' and that we value everyone's right to feel happy and safe at school.

Please take some time to talk with your child/ren about how they can demonstrate these rules at school and at home.
