Digital Safety and STEM

@ St Louis

eSafety Parent Sessions

After more than a year of living through a screen, it's been great to hear about how our children have been able to restart many of their clubs outside school, as well as watch them play and interact with each other at school.

We know that there have been many learnings that we can take away from our digital experiences over this time and, with that in mind, want to share with you an excellent series of parent-focused webinars and events hosted by the eSafety Commissioner.

If you would like to know more, simply click on the images below and they will download the relevant PDF with links including the schedule of events as well as how to book online.

We hope you find what we share informative and helpful. Please feel free to send over any other helpful resources or articles you find connected to digital safety to me at twood@stlouisaspendale.com

More amazing things going on in STEM this week. Check out what our Year 5 and 6s have been up to.

Year 6

Last week, in our Year 6 OzHarvest program, we made french toast with bananas and this week we cooked tortilla wraps accompanied by our very own tzatziki dip.

Part of our learning has been about what foods are wasted the most throughout Australia. We learned that bread, milk, bananas, meat and bagged salad/lettuce are some of the products people tend to throw away. By looking at the recipes below we were able to save some of these foods and make nutritious healthy food at a really low cost.

If you're interested in making them out home here's the recipes.

Year 5

Before we get into STEM in Year 5, 5CA have taken the initiative and are beginning to collect recyclable single use plastics to help clean up our area.

Here's one of their posters with further information.

We have continued looking at the way technology can help our world.

Check out some of the amazing videos our Year 5 students made to promote Peace with Nature for the UNESCO Minecraft tournament.
