Literacy and Inquiry
This Term, the Literacy program was taught along side Inquiry,' Australia and its Neighbouring Countries'. Students explored and researched countries that are close to Australia and were able to understand the differences and describe the connections Australia has with its neighbours. Students were exposed to non-fiction texts and unpacked their features and structures. This enabled students to gain better comprehension through strategies such as visualising, inferring and summarising. Through all the research, students developed their knowledge and understanding of how to use language features to create informational texts. The students have worked through the process of writing, followed by publishing their writing using multimedia digital books and using Word.
Mathematics
In Term Four, students have consolidated their knowledge and understanding of Place Value through the use of interactive materials. Students have taken part in daily fluency games and worded problems that deal with real life scenarios. Again linking our Inquiry unit, 'Australia and its Neighbouring Countries', students collected data on Australia’s neighbouring countries, looking at temperatures, foods, animals and more. With this information they have used digital technology and workbooks to create and present their data in different ways. Also the Grade 4's have learnt about 3D shapes and their features and completing a city using the different shapes.
