   Concord School’s Kindness Culture

Thank you to everyone for their involvement in the National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence.  It was great to see Concord School’s Kindness Culture develop via the leadership of our SRC representatives working with their SW&E Leaders.

The SRC met this week to share the activities they organised to promote a Kindness Culture at Concord School.  Here was what they reported:

 Upper Primary

  • “Walk Away from Bullies and Stand Up as Buddies” display, creating individual hand and foot prints
  • Watched an Anti-Bullying video and answered questions
  • Created and acted in an Anti-Bullying video that was shared on Facebook

Secondary 7/8

  • It’s Cool to Be Kind display
  • Kindness Leaf – created a Kindness Tree in the hallway
  • Teamwork activities

Secondary 9/10

  • Watched information about Cyber Bullying
  • Compliments for 2 different students
  • Kindness cards display
  • Sausage Sizzle

Secondary 11/12

  • Kindness Wall

The SRC are proud to have collected $298.05 in gold coin donations for the out of uniform day. They have decided to equally share the money between the Big Group Hug and the Good Friday Appeal for the Royal Children’s Hospital.

‘Extras’ Acting Opportunity

One of the joys of being a teacher is when I hear how my past students are progressing. I have had a previous student and her family notify me that they are producing their own film, based on the true story of her grandmother and aunt.  They are calling for extras in a wedding scene, to be filmed on the school holidays.  Please see the flyer above.

I taught this young lady 5 years ago at my previous school.  Since graduating she has done many things, including studying the Ignition Theatre course at Melbourne Polytechnic. She has written the script, acting in the film and is producing the movie – such an amazing accomplishment!
