Snapshot of Learning by Grade 5

Throughout Term One, our Inquiry unit had a geography focus and the unit is called ‘Around Asia’. The Grade 5 students have been immersed in all different aspects of Asian cultures. They participated in a four week rotation, where they were given a “taster” of different Asian countries before choosing their own country to research.

Also, the Grade 5 students have been very lucky to attend two exciting excursions. The first excursion was to Hampton Beach to participate in “The Open Water Life Saving Day”. The weather ended up being sensational! Some of the fun activities that students participated in was paddle boarding, learning life saving techniques as well as some basic first aid.

The second excursion was to our partner school Nazareth College to experience a taste of secondary school life. The students experienced hands-on activities such as woodwork, Art, cooking, Italian, PE, singing and dancing and STEM classes. It was a great day!

The Grade 5 students have had a very busy first term and are looking forward to receiving their First Holy Communion later in the term.

Our thoughtful and dedicated Grade 5 teachers have been making sure that students are engaged in their Around Asia unit of work and were kept safe on their two excursions. Our wonderful Grade 5 teachers this year are Karina Hannett (Level Leader), Denise Do, Brooke Felsinger and Ivonne Lucas.
