MUSIC

Lucy Nieuwesteeg, one of our very talented Isabella Strings Ensemble members, was given the opportunity to perform at the Melbourne Recital Centre on a Saturday evening,

January this year.  Lucy performed with the Melbourne Youth Philharmonic Orchestra after participating in the auditioned MYO summer camp. The Orchestra presented four works for the concert, one being a Pirates of the Caribbean Medley.

INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC

Instrumental lessons and Ensemble rehearsals have commenced for 2022. The Academy Choir, AMICCI and Concert Band rehearsed with enthusiasm and excitement and were fully prepared for the first Whole School Mass and Assembly held on Monday 7 February.

If any students are interested in joining an Academy Ensemble or enrolling in Instrumental Music lessons, please contact me by email – mirelle.morris@academy.vic.edu.au and I will be more than happy to provide you with the relevant information.

MUSIC FROM 'ALOFT'

Thank you to Claudia Cover, Lucy Wilson and Claudia O’Neill who contributed to the music at Sr Hermenilda’s Funeral Mass, held in the College Chapel on Tuesday 15 February.

These talented soloists sang Pie Jesu by Andrew Lloyd Webber and The Circle of Mercy, from the Choir loft.

VISUAL ARTS

It can be difficult finding artwork that can be applied to the heavy hand of publication but we were lucky to have the work of three – now year 10 students – that were just perfect for this year's Academy Calendar of Events. Notwithstanding so many events being reimagined and shifting dates delaying production, the calendars will be ready for distribution in the coming week.

A very big thank you to Lauren Fisher, Giselle Lancaster and Emma Coats.
