Careers Update - Term 1

Year 9

To assist Year 9 students in exploring future career pathways, the Victorian Government has provided funding for all Year 9 students in Government Secondary Schools to participate in the My Career Insights Program.

As part of this program, Year 9 students will complete a Careers Profiling Session of Thursday 24th March during their Inquiry class and will have a one-on-one interview with a Careers Practitioner during Term 2.

More information about the My Career Insights program has been provided to families of Year 9 students through Compass News Feed. Parents/guardians are asked to provide consent for their child to participate in the program by consenting to the ‘My Career Insights’ event on Compass.

VCAL

Congratulations to those Year 11 and 12 VCAL students who have secured a work placement for Semester 1. It is great to hear about the students’ experiences in the workplace.

Those students who have not yet secured a placement will continue to attend sessions with a member of the Careers team at their allocated time. They must bring a log of the workplaces they have contacted over the preceding week and will receive support in identifying possible workplaces to contact.  

VCE

Year 11 VCE students are currently completing their 2022 Career Action Plan. The Careers Team will review these action plans in preparation for Year 12 subject counselling in early Term 3. Students access their Career Action Plan via My Career Portfolio at https://mcp.educationapps.vic.gov.au/

Year 12 VCE students have been asked to complete their Career Action Plan in preparation for their first scheduled meeting with their Careers Advisor. Meetings are scheduled during one of the students’ study periods and are taking place throughout the remainder of Term 1. During this meeting we discuss career pathways, courses of interest and preparing for SEAS and Scholarship applications.
