Deputy Principal

As we approach the Easter break, I have taken the time to reflect on my first term here at the College. St Patrick’s is a very busy place and I have enjoyed every minute of my first term. I think it is important that in every situation we encounter, we try and find God in all things. To that end, I thought I would focus on how I have found God in all things this term.

I found God:

  • the first time I entered the gates in the interactions that I had with the students
  • in the community which is a real faith-based community
  • by talking to Senior students at the swimming carnival about their faith and being invited to attend Mass at their parish
  • through the Lenten dances - seeing young men and women interact positively through a shared experience
  • when masks came off at the beginning of Week 5 and smiles lit up the community
  • watching staff support each other and look after their colleagues by taking on extra classes and duties to cover each other
  • by seeing the Junior School Community come together for a dinner at the start of term
  • by witnessing our Year 12 boys being such a united and committed year group and looking after the boys in younger years
  • by bearing witness to the enormous amount of work our support staff undertake on a daily basis
  • in the interactions that I have had with parents/carers when I was giving out RAT kits before the school year had started
  • in a conversation I had at the Cricket Presentation function with a parent whose son was initially on a waitlist to be a member of the College and how much their family is now entrenched in our community and his son is thriving
  • by being on the sidelines at Summer Sport fixtures and watching the boys play sport.

As we go into our holidays, it is important that we take time to spend with our families and recuperate. We should always remember to try and find the positives and look to find God in all things as even when we are challenged with situations we are uncomfortable with, God is always walking with us on our journey.
