Message From Our

Principal

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Last week our staff were very fortunate to participate in a Spirituality Day, presented by Maria Ford, Education Officer, Spiritual Encounter and Music Ministry. Together we spent time exploring prayer, scripture and gaining a deeper understanding of the 2022 Theme, ‘Tell the Good News’. As well as being an inspirational presenter, Maria is also the songwriter of the song used throughout Sandhurst schools which accompanies this year’s theme and will be used for many celebrations throughout 2022.

Next Sunday is our first Children’s Mass in a very long time. All children and families are warmly invited to join parishioners at Sacred Heart Church at 10am to celebrate Mass together once again.

We’re looking forward to our school Athletics Day on Friday. The day will commence with the traditional Sacred Heart Marching at 9:05 followed by the F-2 events throughout the morning and 3-6s commencing at 11:45. Families are most welcome to come along and watch as children compete for their house, Frayne [blue], McAuley [yellow] or Geary [red]. Children can come to school in sports gear, including a plain coloured t-shirt representing their house colour. Good luck everyone. Thank you to Reilly Young for all his time and effort to make sure it’s a great day.  The District Sports for Years 3-6 will take place on Tuesday April 5th at the Tatura Primary School.

Tomorrow is School Photo Day. We ask that everyone is dressed in full summer uniform only, not sports uniform please.

Learning Conversations will take place on March 29th and 30th from 2pm until 6pm. We are trialing a new time schedule and will commence at 2pm. This is an important opportunity for your child, the learner, to discuss their successes, challenges and goals with their parents and teachers.  In order to maintain a Covid safe environment, which includes masks in doors, being vaccinated and maintaining social distancing we are providing the opportunity for face to face meetings or video conferences, via Google Meets. Please log into PAM to make a booking for the Learning Conversations.

Next week I will be attending the Victorian Association Catholic Primary School Principals [VACPSP] 2022 Leaders Conference, Hope, For Now and Whatever Lies Ahead. I am looking forward to the many innovative keynote speakers and engaging discussions that will take place during the week. The Conference aims to explore the importance of hope and optimism in education and leadership within our own school communities and throughout Catholic Education Victoria.  Dom Poppa and the Leadership Team will keep things at Sacred Heart running very smoothly in my absence.

Thank you for all the very generous donations of Easter eggs for our Easter Raffle. Please send along something to school to be added to the hampers if you haven’t already done so. Tickets have gone home and appear to be selling very fast. There are always more available at the office if families are able to sell more. We will be asking for some volunteers to put the hampers together on Tuesday 29th March. Please let the office know if you are available to help. All money raised in the Easter Raffle will go towards a safety fence on the school boundary.

Special mention to Eliza Abrahams (56CB), last week Eliza competed at the 20/21 Australasian Show Horse and Rider Championships at Werribee Park. The National title event is very hard to qualify for and Eliza and her pony, Louie competed in two sections representing Victoria. Congratulations Eliza on this huge achievement!

Congratulations to Annie Aikman who received the Principal’s award in week 6. Annie always gives of her time so generously and willingly helps others where she can. She is kind hearted and always goes out of her way to make sure others are included. Well done Annie.

May the Sacred Heart of Jesus continue to watch over our school community and bless us always.
