Our own athletic star!
Mrs Blake is the Librarian at the Busselton campus and she recently completed the 'DeliriousWest200miler ' a 350km ultramarathon. Students were amazed when they tracked her progress and they made cards and encouraging notes, recognising her incredible feat. Finishing sixth out of the whole field was a fantastic result, but we're very happy to have her back!
Playground Planning
As part of our Dunsborough Playground Project, all Year 1 - 6 students got together to discuss and design their dream playground. Students worked in mixed-aged, small groups. They listened, shared, drew and presented their design to the others. There were loads of great ideas generated during the session which will be passed onto the Playground Project Team. A few standout ideas included: ground is lava, laser tag, a tree house, lolly shop, slides and cubbies. We're looking forward to the next stages of this exciting project.
Swimming training
A group of committed upper Primary students have been enjoying the pool with this hot weather and participating in our 5 week swimming coaching program under the watchful eye of Jodi Kelso. Taking place after school, she is challenging them and refining their
strokes. The kids are really engaged, pushing themselves and having fun. It has been great to see! Keep going, Year 5/6's!
Purposeful Play
Time to play on purpose in Year 3 and 4 is resulting in some pretty impressive structures and stories!
Scitech visit
Last week, an entertaining and educational series of demonstrations and workshops occupied the Busselton Primary campus, when Scitech took over. Our College gym provided the perfect ventilated space to be together, safely spaced apart. The students loved having such a hands on exploration of science and we were so glad we were able to host Scitech in this way. (Dunsborough readers ... your turn is booked in and coming soon, so watch out!)
Driving achievement
Jacob is one of our Year 12 students and he recently passed his driving test. Many of our senior students have their licence and know how nerve wracking the test can be, but we found out that the assessor reported that he had not seen such a perfect drive in 12 months! Well done, Jacob!
