He is Risen!

Rejoice in the resurrection of Jesus Christ!

The Easter Season

As we enter the holiest of times in the Christian calendar, we are reminded that our Easter story does not end with Jesus’ death on the cross on Good Friday. Our hope as Christians comes from the events after his death; The Resurrection.

John’s account of Jesus’ resurrection appearance begins with tears: “Mary stood outside the tomb crying”. The greatest day of all time, the root of our joy as Christians, begins with grief. The tears of Good Friday and Holy Saturday were still wet on the faces of Jesus’ disciples when he returned to them. They’d barely had a chance to process the agony of the worst day of their lives, in which their saviour and friend had been killed, taking with him their hopes for the future, before everything changed again.

Easter reminds us that we are not people of despair; we are people of hope. Our faith rests upon the resurrection of Christ so that we may be offered eternal life. All our crosses, all our pain, all our sin, are healed, forgiven and transformed. Christ is risen!

As we break for this Easter season, I wish you all the joy and hope that the Resurrection brings.

Project Compassion 2022

As Lent draws to a close, I would like to thank the College community for their generosity in donating to this year’s Project Compassion Appeal. Led by the Year 12 Student Leadership team, our College participated in a range of activities aimed at promoting awareness and gathering funds that will support Caritas Australia in their appeal to bring thousands of Australians together in solidarity with the world's poor to help end poverty, promote justice and uphold dignity.

Hosted by our Year 12 Leaders, Spirit Week  was a huge success raising thousands of dollars for Project Compassion. Our College Easter Egg Hunt, Sausage Sizzle, Guess the Song competition and Junior & Senior Bake sales all contributed funds for Caritas and points towards this year’s Spirit Cup.

A big congratulations to Aquinas for leading the House points and fundraising at the end of Term 1.

Easter Liturgy

On Friday 9 March, our community came together to commemorate the Passion, Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Led by our Year 12 student leaders, the community reflected on the journey of Jesus to Calvary and were challenged to walk with Christ and reflect the many values he teaches us as he makes the journey to his own death.

Prayer for Easter

This Easter, may we join together in prayer:

Good and gracious God,
Our most glorious Creator,
As we greet the signs in nature around us, we give you praise for an even greater sign of new life: the resurrection of your Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, that we especially celebrate at this time.
The sadness and despair of his death has given way to the bright promise of eternal life.
For the Resurrection is our guarantee that justice will triumph over treason, light will overcome darkness, and love will conquer death.
As we celebrate, we also dare to ask for your grace that we may live the promise given to us, by imitating the life of Jesus in reaching out to the poor, the marginalised, the least among us, as we strive to be a neighbour to all those we meet.
We ask for your special blessings each and every day.
Working with him may we strive to make our community a beacon of hope and justice in a world hungry for peace and so in need of your love.
We praise you in this Easter season. Change our lives, change our hearts to be messengers of Easter joy and hope.
We make our prayer through Jesus Christ, our risen Lord forever. Amen.
St Brigid, Pray for us.

Wishing you a happy and holy Easter season.
