Religious Education and Life at St Anne's and in the Parish of OLMC.

PRAYER

Every Monday Morning we come together as a school community to share prayer. Each week a class leads the whole school in our prayer via a Google Meet. The prayer is recorded and sent home to that year levels’ families so that they are too able to share in prayer. Special thank-you to Year 5 and Year 4 Maroon for leading us in prayer and we look forward to the Year 3 Maroon and Year 2 Maroon classes who will lead us in prayer in the coming weeks. 

ASH WEDNESDAY 

We begin the season of Lent with Ash Wednesday on 2nd March. Although we will be unable to gather in the Church, the Year 3 to Year 6 students will gather outside for a special prayer service with Father Kevin at 10am. The Prep, Year 1 & Year 2 students will also gather later that day to mark Ash Wednesday and the beginning of the Lenten season at 11:45am via Google Meet. 

LENT: WE ARE HOPE IN ACTION

Guided by our theme across this Lenten Season “We Are Hope In Action - Working together for justice and dignity, Walking together in hope,  Building together for a better future for all” and with a focus of the pillars of Lent, Fasting, Almsgiving and Prayer, we hope that we will be able to make a difference to our lives and the lives of others whilst putting God in our centre. 

PROJECT COMPASSION

In each of the classes we will be collecting for Caritas’ Project Compassion. Collection boxes are in each of the classes and if you are able to spare some change for this cause which brings Hope to many and focuses on positive change and building a better future.  You can just send the donation in with your child and they can place it in the Project Compassion Boxes in their classrooms. 

SACRAMENTS AND THE SACRAMENTAL PROGRAM:

Information and dates regarding the Sacramental Preparation Program for Eucharist, Reconciliation and Confirmation went home with the students at the beginning of the term. Year 3, 4 and 6 teachers posted a copy of these dates on Seesaw also.

This year the Sacraments will be celebrated:

Sacrament of First Eucharist

24th, 30th & 31st July at St. Anne’s Church

Sacrament of First Reconciliation

Thursday 20th October, 5pm & 7pm at St. Anne’s Church

Sacrament of Confirmation

Sunday 9th October, 2pm at St. Patrick's Cathedral

The Sacrament of Confirmation for last year’s Year 6 students is to take place at Salesian Stadium on Friday 4th March, 7pm. We wish all our past students and the other candidates a wonderful celebration as they receive this Sacrament. 

PREP FAMILY FAITH EVENING:

We will be beginning our Family Faith Evenings with the Prep Families on Tuesday 22nd March, 6:00pm - 7:00pm at school. We encourage all our Prep Families to join us. Further information will be sent home to the Prep Families in the coming weeks.
