The library has commenced a chess club with games currently running every Monday at lunch time, with the possibility of that increasing when restrictions ease. Students from Year 7-12 are encouraged to join and have a lot of fun. The library will also provide the tools to access learning materials for students who want to improve.

 

Don’t be discouraged if you’ve never played or are a beginner. Chess can be fun at all levels and for all ages. There are plans to participate in inter-school competitions when the restrictions ease, so get excited!

NSW 2022 Premier’s Reading Challenge 

 

The Challenge starts on Monday 28th of February 2022 and closes on Friday 19th of August for student entries. It is open to students in years 7-9.

 

The Challenge aims to encourage a love of reading for leisure and pleasure in students, and to enable them to experience quality literature. It is not a competition but a challenge to each student to read, to read more and to read more widely. 

 

Rules

 

Please make sure you have familiarised yourself with these rule changes. 

1.The Challenge opens on 28 February 2022. You must complete your online Student Reading Record by 19 August 2022 (11:59 pm) to complete the Challenge. 

 

2. You must read a total of 20 books: Minimum 15 books from the PRC booklist and maximum 5 books of personal choice

 

3. Books you read after the Challenge closes can count towards the next year's Challenge.

 

Books that are on the PRC booklists have been labelled with stickers to help students identify them.

 

Students are encouraged to check out the Author and Illustrator Showcases on the Arts Unit website to catch up with the some of the best children's and YA authors in Australia from overseas too!
