Symphonic Band Tour

On Sunday 20 November, the Symphonic Band Tour group departed for their tour of Inverloch and surrounds. After a 6 hour journey (with stops), they arrived to a very cold, wet and windy Inverloch. The tour kicked off with a gig at Fish Creek Primary school in front of an audience of 120, this was followed by an afternoon performance in front of 440 Wonthaggi Primary school students. The band, along with Jenny and Scott had the audience singing along, up dancing, and even a select few chosen students conducting the band!

While on tour, the band visited Philip Island for leisure, and played gigs at Inverloch Primary school, as well as the public sound shell to the pleasantly surprised Inverloch locals and holiday makers.

The weather kept the group busy, often setting and packing up in torrential rain, and even hail, despite this, students rose admirably to the challenges the weather presented. Well done to all the students (Alannah Baguley, Zoe Baguley, Matthew Bell, Sam Brooker, Connor Brown, Oliver Chambers, Anthony Chisholm, Georgia Collard-Southgate, Lara Corsini, Tully Dwyer, Swaye Frankland, Jack Gambrell, Jordan Gosbell, Stephanie Grant, Grace Gregory, Sarah Henderson, Finn Howe, Frederick Lowe, Roxanne Mayne Pritchard, Lily McPhan, Amelia Roberts, Anika Robinson, Fiona Schilling, Tara Rose Wevers and Gracie York), and staff. A very big thank you to Jenny O’Brien and Scott Solimo for their fantastic organisation of the tour, and Rob Humphries, Keyna Masin and Elly Gales who assisted the tour group.

We received a lovely email from a local resident today - “Please pass on to your Music Department and student musicians a heartfelt thanks for brightening an otherwise dreary day weather wise with their wonderful music. I was practicing bowls at the Inverloch BC this morning and heard music coming from the sound shell in the Glades. I packed up and went to the Glades to be treated to a wonderful performance. The staff and students have obviously been dedicated to keeping their passion for music alive during the last two years of interrupted learning. Musicians have had their own form of therapy -music- and it must be a joy to once again perform live as a group. The weather for their tour has not been kind, but hopefully everyone has enjoyed the coastal scenery”.
