1/2 T

It’s been a very busy couple of weeks in 12T!

Last week we were lucky to have a number of celebrations to take part in.

Italian Day was filled with exciting activities. We started with whole school, house group rotations. We got to ice biscuits in the colours of the Italian flag, have fairy floss and gelato, and then play bocce, soccer, Uno and tombola. We also learnt about special masks worn at the Carnival of Venice and got to design our own masks.

The 1/2 level was very privileged to be chosen to conduct the first of our school Advent services. Selected students presented the service in front of the whole school, many of them speaking in front of a large audience for the very first time, and did an amazing job, which we were all very proud of.

The first week of Advent is all about hope and

as we lit the hope candle we shared this special prayer.

We have a very special Advent Calendar in the Red Centre this year. Instead of gifts, it is filled with Acts of Kindness. Hopefully our students are sharing these Acts of Kindness with you at home!

We have also each made a special Christmas decoration for the school Christmas tree.

On Friday we celebrated St Francis Xavier’s Feast Day, with a special prayer service and learnt some interesting facts about the life of St Francis Xavier and the important work he did.  This was followed by an awesome disco, where we got to dance our hearts out - following on with some of Bree’s expert instructions, having an ‘air guitar’ battle, as well as showing off our own sensational moves.

We also were very lucky to be the first class to get a sneak preview of the brand new playground. Mr Steve took us out there last Friday to check it all out, and hear about how the different parts of the playground can be used. This week it officially opened and we are all rapt with all the exciting ways we can play out there.

We have been finishing up our inquiry work, using our mapping and location skills to write ‘programs’ for our robots to do jobs around the house. We visited the grade 5/6 classrooms to see the way they have written programs to make the Beebots follow a course and after testing out their programs, we had a go at writing our own Beebot programs too.

We have also finished up designing our robots and used a whole range of boxes and craft materials to build our robots.

Next week we get to meet up with our new teachers and classes, so we are looking forward to that. Although we will be a little sad to move on from the 2022 12T team, we know that we have had a wonderful year of amazing learning and can be grateful for so many opportunities that we have had to learn about ourselves and how our amazing world works.

As the year draws to a close, I would like to thank all of our families

for your ongoing support - it is greatly appreciated!

May you all have a peaceful, enjoyable Christmas season and a relaxing summer break.
